24th Mihidu Perehera of Kirulapone Pushparamaya

The annual Mihindu Perehera of Pushparamaya Temple of Kirulapone is one of the oldest and grandest Buddhist festivals organised by the temple, featuring dancers, jugglers, musicians, fire-breathers, and lavishly decorated elephants. This procession (perehera) was held for the 24th consecutive year.

The ritual was performed by carrying the sacred relics through the streets of Kirulapone by the One Tusker Elephant of Sri Dalada Maligawa. Nalin Nugawela is the Banayake Nilame and the perehera came to a successful completion, under the guidance of Chief Incumbent of the temple Vishwakeethi Dharamavisharada Panditha Elkaduwe Nagitha Thero.
