Address by Principal Upali Rathnayaka Murthaz Barry receiving certificate from Chief Guest Invitee school Arabic song by students Text and pix by Ruzaik Farook The Islamic Majlis of Wesley College Colombo organised the 46th Islamic Day celebration which was held at the Havelock City Pavilion, Colombo recently. Ambassador of Oman in Sri Lanka Al Sheik Juma Hamdan Al Shehhi was the chief guest and the welcome speech was delivered by President of the Society Naheel Mohideen. The guest speaker of the event Colombo Ahadiyyah School staffer Shamail Sheedullah requested the students to obey, listen and consult their parents. He also pointed out Prophet Muhammad (SAL) said children’s paradise is in their mother’s feet and when we respect our parents we will have success. Also he said we are living among various communities and must respect each other as we are all brothers. Guest of Honour Wesley College Principal Upali Rathnayake praised the Islamic Majlis and contribution of the Muslim students in Wesley College. He also said we live together as brothers not only Muslim but also Buddhist and Tamils. Al Shehhi, Rathnayake and guest of honour former ITN Director Hashim Omar distributed certificates and awards to the winner of the contest and a vote of thanks by was presented by Yoosuf Fazal. Master in charge of Islamic Majlis M.F. Hassan, Amana Bank Marketing Manager Marshad Barry, students from invitee schools, teachers and parents were present at this ceremony.
