An enthusiastic team of employees at AIA Sri Lanka volunteered to whitewash the Elayathamby Hindu Vidyalaya in Jaffna. A team of volunteers from Head Office and branch offices across the island gathered to briskly get to work, cleaning and whitewashing the school buildings, which were in need of some sheen. All the students of the school were also gifted brand new school uniforms.

This was yet another project initiated by AIA, in efforts to uplift the education of children in the area. Over three other popular Jaffna schools, including the Vaddu Karthikeya Vidyalayam which is over 100 years old, had been previously refurbished and whitewashed by AIA.

Director HR Thushari Perera commented: “At AIA, our people sincerely believe in uplifting the lives of the community and this effort illustrates the enthusiasm and dedication with which our employees contribute to the corporate social responsibility efforts of our company.”

This was a special initiative in that it was also a celebration of AIA’s 10th anniversary in Jaffna. Hospitable anniversary celebrations ensued the school project, organised by AIA’s Provincial Manager Kandasamy Selvarjan, Branch Managers and teams from AIA’s offices in the north and east.
