Abans Group organises 14th annual book donation campaign

The Abans Group organised its 14th annual book donation campaign to support the education of students in Sri Lanka. The project was led by Abans’ Warehouse Division General Manager Ranjith Gajanayake, and the program was launched at the Abans Head Office in Kollupitiya and at the Kadolkele Warehouse Complex in Seeduwa on 17 and 18 December. The donation benefited over 1,000 children of Abans Group employees from pre-school up to grade 12.

Accordingly, a complete set of school supplies including school bags, shoes, lunch boxes, exercise books, stationery, and other essential school supplies were donated at the event. At a time when the cost of living remains very high, this donation is expected to be a relief to parents, while also being of great support for their children to successfully complete their educational activities in the new year.

A group of officials representing the senior management, including Abans PLC Director Ms. Saroshi Dubash participated at this event. Dubash, who spoke at the event, commended the dedication and determination of students in successfully completing their educational activities. Dubash spoke on the importance of becoming responsible citizens by encouraging children to achieve their dreams. The contribution made by Abans to their educational activities by providing equal opportunities to children from all socio-economic backgrounds was also emphasised at the event.

Furthermore, Abans Electricals PLC too hosted a book donation event that was led by Abans Electricals PLC Director Operations Chinthaka Kodippilikande that was launched at the Abans Electricals PLC on 24 December, which was followed by 15 other programs island wide. This book donation is expected to benefit over 270 children of Abans Electrical PLC employees from pre-school up to Grade 12. Accordingly, these children were awarded a complete set of school supplies, including essential items.

The contribution of the Abans Group of Companies to the welfare of children and the youth was exhibited through efforts such as this event. The Abans Group increasingly focuses on similar programs, underscoring the importance of education for the socio-economic progress of Sri Lanka. Community services led by Abans have always been specially designed to help address the needs of low-income students and to contribute to their educational advancement. Abans aims to build a future generation that is educated as well as competent and believes that this will lay the foundation for a developed nation in the future. The aim of the 14th annual book donation campaign was to empower the education of children and the youth for the betterment of the nation as a whole.
