During the time of the COVID-19 pandemic, which is rapidly spreading across the island, the people living in rural areas face greater risks due to the lack of facilities and resources. With the aim to lend them a helping hand, Abans recently donated several LG Dual Cool Inverter Air Conditioners to selected hospitals located in the Anuradhapura district.

These air conditioners were installed in general wards, Intensive Care Units and operating theatres to help fight viruses, using its modern technology.

Accordingly, LG Anti-Virus Dual Cool Inverter Air Conditioners were installed in the Rajanganaya Yaya-05 District Hospital, Rathmalgahawewa District Hospital, Galenbindunuwewa District Hospital, Kahatagasdhigiliya Hospital, Kekirawa District Hospital, Gaaladivulwewa Primary Care Unit, Mahavilachchiya District Hospital, Kebithigollewa Hospital, Galkulama Primary Care Unit, and Thiththagonewa Primary Care Unit.

State Minister of Production, Supply and Regulation of Pharmaceuticals Doctor Professor Channa Jayasumana expressed his gratitude to the management of Abans Group for this immensely valuable donation, especially at a time of crisis in the current situation. The State Minister spoke of the importance of upgrading hospital wards, intensive care units and operating theatres with modern facilities at a time when the COVID-19 pandemic was spreading rapidly.

Abans PLC Chief Marketing Officer Buddhika Dharmawardena stated, “At a time when the entire country and its people are going through a challenging period, we’re truly honoured to be able to conduct this CSR initiative, to do our part against battling the coronavirus.” He further said that, as a leading home-grown organisation that has worked closely with customers from all walks of life in Sri Lanka for a span of over 50 years, the company is pleased to have fulfilled their responsibility at such a crucial juncture.

This would be a priceless contribution to the patients, as well as the healthcare staff working long hours in the hospitals with the least facilities, in rural areas where the risk of COVID-19 is very high, and access to proper healthcare is quite challenging.

The LG Anti-Virus Dual Cool Inverter Air Conditioner uses the best technological advancements to remove germs and viruses from the air, thus ensuring that clean and hygienic air is circulated around the room. It also saves electricity by controlling the speed of the compressor to provide the required cooling faster and maintain it without interruptions, making it ideal for hospitals that require usage of air conditioners for longer periods of time.

Abans has received great appreciation by the general public, including the health authorities, for their valuable donation for the betterment of hospitals, especially with the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
