Team who participated at the CSR event
The Pest Managers Association of Sri Lanka (PMASL) and the Federation of Asia Oceania Pest Management Associations (FAOPMA) carried out a dengue control program in collaboration with the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) and the National Dengue Control Unit (NDCU).
The event was launched at the Millennium Training Center with the patronage of Colombo Municipal Council Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Ruwan Wijayamuni, Ministry of Health National Dengue Control Unit Director Dr. Sudath Samaraweera, and industry leaders of the PMASL. The dengue mosquito control program was carried in the identified high risk areas of Colombo Municipal Council with the active participation of PMASL member companies.
Dr. Ruwan Wijayamuni commended at the successful completion of the above programs with the able guidance of his team. “Having a very high population density in the CMC area has consistently reported higher dengue case and seasonal outbreaks. Therefore, rapid response is a critical factor in mitigating populations.”
Dr. Sudath Samaraweera stated, “One of FAOPMA’s core purposes is to support our members in a time of crisis. As such, FAOPMA were able to raise funds immediately from our country members and other member associations and individuals. Initially, as per the requirement of PMASL, we provided equipment like fogger machines, mist blowers, etc.”
PMASL President Sudash Liyanage stated that the Pest Managers Association of Sri Lanka (PMASL) is pleased to have launched a timely CSR project to combat the dengue pandemic, with the initiation, support and benevolent sponsorship of Federation of Asia Oceania Pest Managers Association (FAOPMA).
