‘Charity begins at home’, a CSR initiative by CIC Sports Club during the festive season, put smiles on the faces of over 60 minor staff workers attached to CIC Holdings.
CIC Sports Club which organises its annual Christmas party every year for all staff members, broke away from tradition, and decided to refrain from the annual get-together and instead gave away essential food items and gift vouchers to all minor staff workers attached to the company. The 60-plus workers included the security officers, janitorial staff and the catering staff attached to CIC Head Office and all other CIC locations including their factories, stores and repacking centres. Each minor staff worker was given essential food items to the value of Rs. 5,000 and also a further Rs. 5,000 as a gift voucher from a leading supermarket.
In addition to this gesture the CIC Sports Club also made special donations to St. Joseph’s Deaf School, Ragama (stationery items, lunchboxes and water bottles for students), Sarvodaya Child Care Centre, Moratuwa (four wall fans and two folding beds/mattresses) and Ladani Children’s Orphanage, Wennappuwa (100 bedsheets).
