Issuing a joint statement on the initiative, CSE CEO Rajeeva Bandaranaike and Colombo Stockbrokers Association President Jaliya Wijeratne stated, “The 2022 capital market donation drive was focused on a food relief project taking into consideration the immediate need to address the food and nutrition requirements of low-income earning communities around the country. We are pleased to have come together as an industry to provide some relief to these families and are hopeful that aid agencies, corporates and other organisations in the private sector will continue to come together to extend a much needed helping hand to affected and vulnerable communities.”
The Capital Market Donation Drive is an annual community engagement initiative organised by capital market stakeholders. In 2021, the initiative donated Rs. 9.6 million worth of COVID-19 treatment related medical equipment and supplies to 10 hospitals around the country at the frontline of managing the COVID-19 pandemic in Sri Lanka.
