Ceylinco Life was instrumental in the collection of more than 1,200 units of blood for the National Blood Transfusion Service (NBTS) in 2019, through a series of country-wide donation camps which concluded in December.
The 15 blood donation camps facilitated by Ceylinco Life last year were part of the Company’s celebration of 15 consecutive years of market leadership, a feat it achieved at the end of 2018.
This was the first time Ceylinco Life organised camps of this nature to engage with a cross section of people in different regions of Sri Lanka to collect blood for the NBTS. A total of 1,630 people attended these camps, and 1,226 of them donated blood, the Company said.
Conducted in collaboration with the National Blood Transfusion Service, the initiative invited all stakeholders to participate. As a result, each location saw staff of Ceylinco Life, customers, friends and families of employees, suppliers, key opinion leaders in society and others queuing up to donate blood for the cause.
Commenting on this program, Ceylinco Life Managing Director and CEO Thushara Ranasinghe said: “One of the factors in Ceylinco Life’s success in retaining its market leadership for a decade and a half is the support and commitment of all stakeholders and the Company’s constant engagement with people in all walks of life. In organising these camps across the country, we wanted to involve everyone that has been a part of our journey in this effort to give something back to society. We thank all those that came together for this worthy cause.”
Information about the various blood donation camps held in different parts of the country was shared via the Facebook page of Ceylinco Life, inviting the general public to be a part of this act of giving. The camps themselves were organised at Ceylinco Life’s own building locations by the Employee Union and the respective branch staff. On the whole, some 3,000 man hours were invested by the staff in organising the 15 camps.
The blood donation camps were held at the Ceylinco Life Head Office, and in Anuradhapura, Bandarawela, Batticaloa, Chilaw, Galle, Gampaha, Horana, Jaffna, Kandy, Kurunegala, Matara, Negombo, Ratnapura, and Trincomalee.
