To commemorate the first death anniversary of former Abans Managing Director Behman (Tito) Pestonjee, a series of heartfelt programs were organised recently.

These initiatives, reflecting his legacy of compassion and community service, were a testament to his enduring impact on the lives he touched.

A wholesome lunch and a much needed washing machine and blender were donated to the Sukitha Children’s Home in Horana, Galpatha, which cares for children and adults with special needs. This contribution aimed to bring comfort and joy to those who need it the most, mirroring Pestonjee’s lifelong commitment to uplifting the less fortunate.

In addition to these acts of kindness, multi-religious ceremonies, including Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Islam, and Zoroastrian, were held to honour his memory. The Buddhist Dharma sermon was conducted by Rev. Borella Athula Thero, highlighting the spiritual dimensions of Pestonjee’s life. During these ceremonies, vouchers for school supplies and stationery were donated to children, ensuring that his legacy continues to support the education and growth of future generations.

Furthermore, televisions were donated to dialysis units in hospitals across Sri Lanka. This gesture aimed to ease the challenging process of treatment for patients, providing them with a source of relaxation and comfort during their difficult times. Over the years, Abans has made numerous contributions to hospitals nationwide, consistently working to enhance patient care facilities.  As a responsible corporate citizen, Abans said it has always led the way in organising CSR projects, reflecting the company’s deep-rooted commitment to social responsibility.

Pestonjee’s legacy as a passionate leader and compassionate human being will continue to inspire and guide us. His memory lives on through these acts of kindness and the ongoing efforts of Abans to make a positive difference in the community.
