Perera and Sons Bakers (P&S), has taken yet another decisive step forward in ensuring access to clean and safe drinking water, with the installation of a Reverse Osmosis (RO) water purification plant at Kaudulla Maha Vidyalaya in the Polonnaruwa District.
The initiative, conducted under P&S’s broader “Manu Mehewara” CSR program, was made possible through its long-standing collaboration with the Sri Lanka Navy. The new RO plant will now ensure that students and other members of the local community have access to safe and clean drinking water every day.
This initiative is part of an ongoing effort by P&S, in partnership with the Sri Lanka Navy, launched in 2021. Accordingly, the RO plant at Kaudulla Maha Vidyalaya is the fifth RO plant installation by P&S, among several others that have been previously installed, including two RO plants at the Trincomalee District Base Hospital, one in Weerapokuna Village in the Kurunegala District and one in Gamini Vidyalaya Kudawilachchiya, in the Anuradhapura District.
With Polonnaruwa amongst the districts most affected by Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) in Sri Lanka, which has been linked to poor quality groundwater, this ongoing initiative by P&S and the Sri Lanka Navy is helping to drive positive change by ensuring access to clean and safe drinking water.
