In a significant step towards environmental conservation, Pizza Hut Sri Lanka has officially partnered with Clean Ocean Force (COF) to adopt Panadura Public Beach, marking a pivotal moment in the preservation of marine and coastal ecosystems.
This initiative represents the first time Pizza Hut, through its local franchisee Gamma Pizzakraft Lanka Ltd., has participated in marine conservation efforts.
Under the Public-Private (PP) mechanism led by COF, daily beach cleanup operations will be carried out on the iconic Panadura Public Beach, which draws thousands of visitors annually. The initiative not only aims to maintain a clean beach but also to promote a healthier marine environment.
The partnership was celebrated with a ceremony at Panadura Public Beach, attended by key stakeholders, including representatives from the Marine Environment Protection Authority, Panadura Municipal Council, and the Sri Lanka Police Environment Division. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) from the Panadura Division also attended, demonstrating the community’s strong support for the initiative.
During the event, Gamma Pizzakraft Lanka Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer Yasa Nadaraja, and Clean Ocean Force Lanka Chairman Jerome Fernando formally exchanged Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs), cementing their shared commitment to beach conservation.
In addition to its environmental impact, this partnership will provide sustainable livelihoods for four “Beach Guardians” from local communities in Panadura, helping uplift individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Clean Ocean Force is proud to welcome Pizza Hut as a partner in advancing sustainability and protecting Sri Lanka’s coastal ecosystems. With Pizza Hut and Clean Ocean Force united in this cause, the community looks forward to a cleaner, healthier beach and a more sustainable future for all.
