The patient waiting area, constructed by Rhino Roofing Products, adjoining the Clinic Complex, at District General Hospital, Gampaha
As the market leader in the roofing industry of Sri Lanka, Rhino Roofing Products Ltd. has recently concluded the construction of a patient waiting area, adjoining the Clinic Complex, at District General Hospital (DGH), Gampaha, with the intention of optimising convenience and comfort for patients and their families. In order to mark this occasion, the opening ceremony of the waiting area was held in the presence of Rhino Roofing Products Managing Director E.J. Gnanam, the senior management and staff of Rhino, Gampaha DGH Director Dr. Himali Wijegunasekara and senior medical officials and staff of DGH, Gampaha.
In addition to the installation of a public announcing system and fans, the waiting room of 1400 square feet is able to comfortably accommodate 100 patients. Rhino’s Managing Director, E. J. Gnanam said, “This is a very special occasion for all of us at Rhino because this project helps us mark not only the 100th birth anniversary of my father, late Deshamanya A.Y.S. Gnanam, who took over as Chairman and Managing Director of Rhino in 1978, but also the 60th Anniversary of the journey we began as a group in 1962. As Rhino Roofing, we are consistently looking to serve our customers and exceed their expectations by providing products and services of exceptional quality. We hope this waiting area is an example of our work and our promise to continuously deliver as the market leader in roofing and ceilings in Sri Lanka. With the construction of this waiting area, we would like to thank the medical officers and staff of the hospital for the selfless acts they perform on a daily basis and also thank my team for taking the initiative to complete this project and carry the message of being aware and doing things to give back to the community”.
Dr. Himali Wijegunasekara said, “It is great to see a corporation of the magnitude that Rhino Roofing is, take the time to initiate and conduct projects such as the construction of this waiting area. The Hospital has a lot of gratitude for the completion of this project and certainly believes that this has a positive impact on the numerous patients that go in and out of this hospital on a daily basis and allows us to take one step forward in ensuring the convenience of patients and their loved ones.”
Being the roofing industry’s benchmark for quality and the preferred choice for roofing solutions for all types of buildings, Rhino Group has continuously taken steps to use their products and services for the greater good of the general public through previously conducted social welfare projects. In support of the nation battling the Covid-19 pandemic in 2021, Rhino donated 8 ICU Ventilators to the Ministry of Health and in 2022, took the initiative to refurbish a damaged building of Thakshila College, Gampaha. Further, in 2016 Rhino Roofing Products conducted a complete refurbishment of the homes of fifty families who lost their homes in the Tsunami of 2004 and whose houses were replaced with houses built by Rhino in 2006.
