Rotary Club of Battaramulla recently rolled out Phase three of their “Help Her Raise” annual community service program to distribute maternity bags for disadvantaged pregnant mothers in Sri Lanka. The maternity bags, each valued at Rs. 7,935 contains essential items required for the successful delivery and aftercare of the baby.
In its third consecutive year, the Phase three of the project was conducted as a one-day program on 28 April at the Homagama Base Hospital where the maternity bags were handed over to 135 most suitable pregnant mothers selected jointly by the Rotary Club of Battaramulla along with the officials of the administrative department of the hospital. 100 such maternity bags were distributed previously during Phases one and two of the project.
The Rotary Club of Battaramulla established the “Help Her Raise” project in 2019 to serve under the maternal and childcare category as a part of their annual community service program. For the past three years, the Rotary Club of Battaramulla has been donating maternity bags that expectant mothers must take to the hospital when they admit themselves to their confinement.
Würth Lanka Ltd., a fully owned subsidiary of Würth Gmbh Germany, together with Auto Bavariya and other funding sources were the joint sponsors of Phase three of the “Help Her Raise” project.
