Handing over donations by SriLankan Airlines CEO Vipula Gunatilleka

SriLankan Cares, the CSR arm of SriLankan Airlines, fulfilling an acute need of the hour due to the prevailing pandemic, donated a batch of ventilators to the National Hospital, Colombo, recently.

When the country witnesses a surge in the numbers of COVID-19 patients, as the main and final referral centre of the island, the National Hospital is faced with the challenge of having sufficient resources in place to provide medical care for incoming patients. SriLankan Cares, as a tribute to the yeomen service rendered by the country’s health sector in combating the current pandemic, extended its support in this manner.

The donation was funded purely through the contribution of SriLankan Airlines’ staff members, who joined hands to help fulfil a national endeavour despite the turbulent times faced by the Airline and challenges and hardships stemming from the compulsory salary reductions owing to the current circumstances.

Even during the pandemic, SriLankan Cares continues to extend its helping hand to the needy and the less-privileged sectors of society and some of its recent projects were, the donation of essential items to the CCC Interim Home, Maharagama and fund-raising collaboration with the Little Hearts Project.
