Sysco LABS ‘Share a Meal. Share a Moment’ phase 4 reaches communities in need

Sysco LABS Sri Lanka recently executed on the 4th phase of the ‘Share a Meal. Share a Moment’ program – the company’s flagship CSR initiative – designed to assist vulnerable communities in need.

Sysco LABS is the captive innovation centre for Sysco Corporation: the global leader in foodservice. This initiative is closely aligned to Sysco’s purpose of ‘Connecting the world to share food and care for one another.’

Appreciating the prevailing struggles and immense suffering faced by the people due to unprecedented inflation and a rapidly deteriorating economy, the 4th phase of Sysco LABS’ ‘Share a Meal. Share a Moment’ initiative aimed to support disadvantaged communities in the suburbs of Colombo city. During the last week of April, dry rations and essential items were donated, providing relief to families in need.

Phase 4 was organised by the Sysco LABS Ministry of Fun – an internal association led by employees that facilitates teamwork and camaraderie. Sysco LABS also reallocated the budget set aside for the Sinhala and Tamil New Year event to partly fund this worthy cause. Sysco LABS employees also contributed whole-heartedly towards this initiative with personal donations and through volunteering to aid distribution efforts.

The dry rations were distributed in partnership with the Alliance Development Trust (ADT), a non-profit organisation dedicated to building and uplifting communities across Sri Lanka.
