University of Moratuwa Class of 92 Silver Jubilee was held in 2017 in Sri Lanka and 2020 reunion was scheduled to be held in Sydney, Australia. UOM Class of 92 Reunion is organised in order to unite the members spread across the world and use its collective strengths to contribute to good causes in Sri Lanka. In 2020 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic UOM Class of 92 collective donated Rs. 1.2 million to a project initiated by another group of Moratuwa University Engineers to build a fully-fledged new building at IDH hospital to house a new CT scanner. At this reunion, UOM Class 92 is planning to initiate a CSR initiative to assist remote schools in Sri Lanka.

The online reunion is scheduled on Saturday 24 October at 4:30 p.m. Sri Lanka time, 10 p.m. Melbourne Australia time, 7 a.m. USA time and 2:30 p.m. Middle East time. Reunion keynote address on the topic of ‘Art of Winning’ will be delivered by popular mental coach Eng. Nalaka Hewamadduma who is also a product of UOM class 92. The reunion agenda also has a fun-filled line up of activities including a family online singing competition.

Eng. Deepthi Hewageegana President of UOM Class of 92 said, “Unity amongst university batch mates is unmatched. We leverage this strength to contribute to good social causes in Sri Lanka. Sadly, the country loses high percentages of engineering graduates of UOM due to brain drain and a considerable percentage of our members are living overseas. Though we are constrained to meet up physically this year due to the ongoing pandemic, our enthusiastic organising committee has taken measures to ensure that we have the reunion leveraging digital technology. Our class of 92 members spread across the world can look forward to a great line up of activities and surprises at this year’s online reunion in addition to initiating the new CSR initiative.”
