AAI launches humanitarian nature-preserving project for World’s End

Asian Alliance Insurance launched a humanitarian nature-preserving project that aims to provide eco-friendly paper bags to the tourists visiting World’s End, free of charge. This special project was launched with the cooperation of the Sri Lanka Department of Wildlife Conservation with the motive and a mission of ensuring the long existence of a world heritage.
This CSR project by Asian Alliance was started with the theme of “Protect your beautiful world” and with an initial allocation of three million for the first batch of bags. The unique design of the bags deviate them from the average eco-friendly bags because the user of will hesitate to dispose it or damage it as this can be easily preserved as a valuable souvenir from their journey to the world’s end.
As always Asian Alliance has sacrificed their time and commitment towards the benefit of the many and for the merry existence of mother nature. On an era like today where the attention of the general public is diversified and broadened by the development of information technology, the attention towards nature preservation has depleted or reduced as of before. So with CSR projects of this capacity will surely hold immense value and embed a glimmer of hope towards future “Green Projects”.
In days before, the Department of Wildlife Conservation who maintain World’s End, provided domestically handmade paper bags for tourists and visitors as they do not allow any polythene or plastic inside the wildlife reserve. So it has been a long nagging issue for the department because with the consistency of increasing tourists arrivals and as a majority of the visitors carry a lot of baggage the expenses spent on providing proper facilities to all tourists have increased significantly throughout the year. Hence this project of providing the eco-friendly bags by Asian Alliance has taken a massive weight off the Wildlife Department’s shoulders.
The bags come in four different sizes suiting the requirements of the tourists, as an example, larger groups require larger bags to carry their belongings and a smaller groups travelling light will need a small bundle type package which will be easier for them to travel with. These should come in these size categories to fulfill the particular needs of all tourists, thus theses eco friendly bags have been introduce in four different sizes, large, medium, small and a handle-less bundle type pack for the people who travel light.
Asian Alliance Chief Operating Officer Life Insurance Chula Hettiarchchi who was the main personality in paving the way for this project said: “This is but the first step we take towards preserving nature and our heritage, and through the ‘Protect our beautiful world’ project we hope to facilitate and provide our support to all types of nature reserves and related establishments island-wide. Our main objective of conducting these CSR projects is to minimise the threats to nature and to join forces to contribute towards ‘living green’ as now the whole world has embraced this concept. We hope to conduct more such humanitarian projects in the near future by allocating funds through CSR.”
One of the most significant features of these special bags is its souvenir value, because the make and design of the bag is of unique authenticity and colour. The photographs of rare sights and the written content gives it additional appeal with a margin of awareness to the tourist attraction.
The first batch of bags were officially handed out at World’s End by Minister of Wildlife Conservation Vijith Vijithamuni Zoysa to the lucky tourists who visit on the day. The project has completed two months of success and recently finished their first official batch of bags and now has provided a new lot to the authorities.
