Amil Group of Companies donates Chetiya to Ratmalana Samadhi Buddhist Centre

Amil Group of Companies, to commemorate its 30 years service to the nation embarked on a noble CSR activity. Amil Group Chairman Walter Abeysundara unveiled Kotha of the Chetiya which he had made and donated to Samadhi Buddhist Centre at Ratmalana. The occasion was graced by President Maithripala Sirisena. 

Walter Abeysundara’s grandson Aaditya Abeysundara according to the directions of the Chief Prelate of the temple Ven. Mapalagama Buddhasiri was offered to lead the proceedings of the occasion. 

Amil industries Directress Heshini Samarakoon who organised the event said she and her family have been allocating a fare sum of the company’s revenue for CSR activities for many years. 

“Our company’s CSR activities are aimed at upgrading the standards in the society, religion and art. The significance of today’s event is the Chairman’s preference to bring to the fore his grandson, little Aaditya with the Chief Prelate’s advice. The object of this gesture was to inspire the future generation towards the value of engaging in noble causes as these,” said the Directress.

Heshini is the daughter of Consultant Specialist Sujatha Samarakoon who happens to be former Fisheries Minister and social worker S.D.S. Jayasinghe’s granddaughter. 

“We come from a family that was dedicated to social service. My husband the Managing Director of Amil Industries too is of the same calibre. Thus we will continue to indulge in CSR activities for the betterment of the society continuously in the years to come,” she added.

The occasion to donate Chetiya to the temple was also participated by Siyam Nikaya’s Kotte Prelete Chief Incumbent Prof. Ven. Iththapana Dhammalankara, Siyam Nikaya’s Malwatu Prelate Deputy Chief Incumbent Pro. Ven. Niyangoda Dharma Keerthi Sri Sangharakkhitha Vijithasiri and Kotte Nagavihara Chief Incumbent Ven Sobhitha Thera. 

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena and MP Mohan Lal Grero too were present to grace the occasion.
