Epilepsy is among the most neglected diseases in Sri Lanka. Answering the call to address this disease, the Government has set up epilepsy wards at the main children’s hospital across the country. When compared to similar facilities across the globe, these units in Sri Lanka lack up-to-date equipment and specialised medical expertise to deal with the growing number of patients. Stepping up to raise awareness on the disease and to raise funds for specialised equipment is JC Entertainments Ltd., who organised a ‘classical musical evening’ that was held in Colombo and was proudly sponsored by Associated Motorways Ltd.

The musical extravaganza was a recital by Dr. Harsha Abeyratne, a pianist of international repute. Dr. Abeyratne currently serves as Professor of Music at the Muskingum University in Ohio, USA. All proceeds from the recital, titled ‘The Liszt Connection’, will be towards JC Entertainments Ltd.’s Project Joy – a program that will see the Children’s Epilepsy Unit at the Lady Ridgeway Hospital in Colombo, receive vital equipment and medical knowhow.

Speaking on AMW’s involvement in the historic project, AMW Group Managing Director Samantha Rajapaksa said: “AMW’s success is a result of the continuous loyalty of our customers and the trust we have built up over the years. This is one of the many opportunities for us to give something back to society and make a lasting difference in the lives of children.”

“As a member of the corporate world in Sri Lanka, we are proud to collaborate on such programs that uplift the lives of Sri Lankans. We are extremely pleased to be working with J.C. Entertainments in making Project Joy a success and stand ready to engage in future projects,” he added.

As the leading conglomerate in the automotive sector, AMW is the sole agent in Sri Lanka for reputed brands including Suzuki, Suzuki Maruti, Nissan, Yamaha and Piaggio automobiles, as well as Goodyear tyres, BP and Castrol lubricants, and New Holland Tractors. In addition, AMW Capital Leasing is also on to provide a comprehensive range of financial solutions. Among products featured at the event is the latest addition to the automobile line up – the Suzuki Ciaz.
