To help encourage emerging artistic talent within Provincial Schools, Anchor has recently launched its ‘Nothing is Impossible – If You Dream Big’ art competition in the Central Province.

The competition, launched in the Western Province earlier this year to celebrate  the 125th anniversary of Fonterra’s flagship brand Anchor, has been expanded following an overwhelming response from the Western Province which saw 7,500 entries received from 20 schools.

The contest, now encompassing 35 provincial schools in the Central Province, is open to students from grades one to five. Entries are divided into three age categories: grade one to two, grade three to four and grade five and one winner will be chosen from each category within the province. There is no limit to the number of students who can apply from each school, and each entry will represent the school itself. Children need only submit their drawings depicting their future dream career.

Fonterra Brands Lanka Managing Director Achyut Kasireddy says, “The goal of the contest is to foster in children the belief that no dream is too big to achieve and to encourage them to express their ambitions creatively, through art. With three million glasses of Anchor milk consumed across the island every day, Anchor, synonymous with trusted nutrition for growth, is the ideal brand to foster confidence in growing children.”

“It was fantastic to see such an enthusiastic response from students in the Western Province and we’re pleased to be able to expand this program to the Central Province. Through this competition we want to encourage all children to have ambitious dreams and work hard to make them a reality.”

Renowned children’s author and illustrator Sybil Wettasinghe and Assistant Director at the Ministry of Education D.M.H. Dissanayake compose the judging panel. Entries will be judged both for their creativity and relevance to the theme on an equal basis.

Winners of the competition will be awarded a six month supply of Anchor milk powder in addition to a Rs. 5,000 gift voucher, while winning schools will receive Rs. 100,000 worth of gifts each. The schools will be given the choice of sports equipment, musical instruments or reading material for the library to cater to their specific needs.
