Awards for excellence in commercial forestry industry

‘Sadaharitha Forestry Awards,’ the annual award ceremony of Sadaharitha Plantation Ltd., was held at the Galle Face Hotel, under the patronage of a distinguished gathering headed by Chairman Sathis Nawarathna. Employees of all divisions who excelled during 2011 were felicitated at this ceremony.

Addressing the gathering, Nawarathna stated that he was happy and proud to have started an environmentally-friendly business venture which offers investors the opportunity to yield high returns on their investment compared to other investment opportunities available while protecting the environment we live in.

He emphasised on the trust placed by customers and the contribution made by employees, to which he attributed the steady growth of the company over the last few years.

Chief Executive Director H.K. Rohana and Senior Lecturer of the Department of Forestry and Environment Science at Sri Jayawardenapura University and Forestry Consultant of Sadaharitha Dr.Upul Subasinghe also addressed the gathering.

Sadaharitha currently has many plantation projects such as mahogany, rambutan, teak and sandalwood well spread across the country and has created job opportunities for over 500 people. The Marketing Division consists of a branch network and a premier division which focuses on the high net worth category along with an international arm, Premier Global.

Apart from commercial forestry, the Sadaharitha Group has diversified its operations in tea export, vegetable and fruit export and water management on a large scale.
