BASF, the world’s leading chemical company, will allow kids between 8 to 12 to discover the wonder of chemistry at BASF Kids’ Lab, featured at the German Street Festival organised by the German Embassy with the support from German companies and corporations operational in Sri Lanka.
BASF Kids’ Lab is a free interactive chemistry education program first launched at BASF’s headquarters in Germany in 1997. As part of BASF’s social engagement initiatives, it offers interesting and safe chemistry experiment and aims to stimulate the interest of children for natural sciences. Since the program began in South Asia, more than 53,856 children have participated.
The one-day program this year will provide young students in Sri Lanka the opportunities to explore the magical world of chemistry and learn how chemicals are used to improve daily lives through fun and engaging experiments. At the sessions, two hands-on experiments designed by BASF chemistry will be featured:
Water storage experiment
The ‘Water Storage’ experiment focuses on imparting education on using effective/alternate techniques of water conservation, including the one using BASF’s innovative super absorbent polymers.
Hair gel experiment
This experiment educates students on how to make hair gel, including how to adjust the pH balance of the mixture and change the texture and consistency.
