Hundreds of patients who seek treatment daily at the District Hospital Ja-Ela and the hospital’s staff have benefitted by a comprehensive renovation of the hospital’s sanitation facilities under a community project funded by Brandix Lanka Limited.

The project involved the replacement or repair of fittings, tiling and doors of 19 toilets in the hospital’s wards, OPD and staff areas, addressing a long-felt need.

Thanking Brandix for coming forward to undertake the project, Dr. Laksiri Lokuliyana, the District Medical Officer of Ja-Ela said: “Although our hospitals receive donations from well-wishers, it is very rarely that a company takes on a project of this nature. We are very appreciative of the Brandix Group’s support, which has made life easier for the many people who seek treatment at the Ja-Ela District Hospital.”

Anusha Alles, Head of CSR at Brandix said the project was undertaken at the initiative of Renuka Usgodaarachchi, Manager – Human Resources at Brandix Casualwear – Ja-Ela, who had identified the hospital’s need during a visit.

The Ja-Ela District Hospital treats an average of 150 people from the Ja-Ela and Ekala areas each day. This number increases to more than 750 on Thursdays which is the Hospital’s Clinic Day. The 48-bed hospital has two wards for males and females and a maternity ward.
