Christmas Festival at Maharagama Cancer Centre, Pediatric Auditorium

Christmas is a time of giving, CanHOPE Colombo with the help of the volunteers from Rotaract Club of Battaramulla, were able to bring the joy of Christmas on the 23rd December to the children of Maharagama Cancer Centre.

To celebrate this special occasion, CanHOPE Colombo team invited some of the famous celebrities (Gayesha Perera, Athula Adikari, Raini Goonathilake, Shalika Edirisinghe & Wasantha Dukgannarala) to join in and share their joy with the children.

The event consisted of a special caroling session by the volunteers of the Rotaract Club of Battaramulla, followed closely by the musical sessions of each of the celebrities. The famous singer Raini Goonathilake shared a few songs for the children and the mothers, as her latest song was dedicated to the spirit of Christmas joy. The Famous Actress and Singer Gayesha Perera, also took to the stage to sing a cheerful song with the children who clapped and danced to the rhythm of the song.

While the famous musician and singer, Athula Adikari enlightened the joy of Christmas as he shared his music on the organ and singing some of his famous singles that left everyone applauding with joy. The Famous actor Wasantha Dukgannarala, preformed a special poem for the children that left everyone laughing out loud and singing to the verse of the poem.

A few supporting staff of Maharagama Cancer centre, including some of the children also joined in to share the music and sing some of songs that left them cheerful. There were also games and activities which included ping the nose on the reindeer and musical chairs which kept the children in their high spirits as the Santa Claus came down showering them with gifts.

On this occasion, CanHOPE Colombo awarded Nurse Menaka (Nursing Officer at Maharagama Cancer Centre) for her outstanding support as a CanFRiEND throughout the year of 2015.
