As part of its corporate responsibility agenda, CIC Holdings PLC and its employees recently engaged in a two-day community investment project at the Cancer Hospital (Teaching), Maharagama.

The employees, who were the driving force behind the success of this project, distributed tins of the nutritional food supplement Pediasure and Ensure to the Paediatric and the Medical Wards respectively.

The employees also contributed their time by spending one full day at the hospital, painting Ward No. 17, which had been renovated. The donations and renovations were made possible through staff contributions.

In addition to this, CIC Holdings PLC donated medical equipment to the Hospital, which included a large steriliser and lung function test machines. CIC has undertaken to maintain Ward No. 17 in the future.

In 2010, CIC gifted Dr. Samitha Samanmalee, the then final year medical student, with a Swiss made Levo stand-up electric wheelchair. Dr Samitha, due to an unfortunate incident, had suffered a critical spinal injury while attempting to organise the Medical Exhibition (MEDEX) at the BMICH in 2008.
