Cinnamon and Chaaya Hotels and Resorts commemorate World Environment Day

Passionate about safeguarding the environment, Cinnamon and Chaaya Hotels and Resorts carried out a variety of eco-friendly activities across its hotels and resorts in commemoration of World Environment Day 2012.

“I will be green,” the employee pledge, in which Chaaya Wild Yala, Chaaya Village Habarana, Chaaya Tranz Hikkaduwa, Cinnamon Lodge Habarana and Bentota Beach Hotel operate under, is designed to lower its carbon footprint and conserve precious resources. This year’s activities included cleaning the coastal stretch and populated areas, educating children about global protection and eco-friendly practices, awareness programs on indigenous reptiles and importance of protecting them, planting of trees and installing a mechanism for garbage and waste disposal.

Cinnamon and Chaaya Hotels and Resorts hope to continue developing its environmental policies by raising awareness in the society on which it operates to ensure future generations are able to enjoy a sustainable and protected environment.
