Cinnamon Lakeside feeds 5,000 at Kelaniya Poson danala

The meals were prepared by a large number of chefs and kitchen staff

Colombo’s five-star urban resort, Cinnamon Lakeside extended its renowned hospitality on Poson Poya day, feeding 5,000 passersby at a dansala erected close to the Kelaniya temple. 

Officiated at 6 p.m. by Cinnamon Lakeside General Manager Dermot Gale, all packets were distributed within two hours, due to the large number of people going towards and coming from the Kelaniya temple. 

Rice packets contacted the average Sri Lankan favourites yellow rice, dhal curry, brinjal moju, soya curry and seeni sambol were packed and parcelled by over 150 hotel volunteers, working tirelessly from noon. For dessert, a cup of yogurt was given along with the rice packet. 

This is the fourth consecutive dansala organised by the hotel. Previously, the Cinnamon Lakeside dansala was held in close proximity to the Gangaramaya temple in Colombo 2.
