Coca-Cola pledges to be water neutral by 2015

Coca-Cola Beverages Sri Lanka launched its new ‘Water Neutral by 2015’ initiative in Sri Lanka. The project will be to implement ultra-filtration followed by scale removal through nanotechnology to use treated waste water for non-production purposes.

Every drop of water matters to Coca-Cola as they strive towards achieving water neutrality by the year 2015.  To this end the Coca-Cola bottling plant in Sri Lanka has taken various measures to reduce the water intake from natural resources.

To support this initiative further, Coca-Cola Beverages Sri Lanka Limited (CCBSL) has appointed a water resource management team to explore possible ways and means of reducing usage of water in the bottling process.

The re-use of treated waste water has been identified by the team as having the potential of saving a minimum of 50 m3 of water a day.
