Coca-Cola Beverages Sri Lanka Limited recently constructed a hall at the Munidasa Kumarathunga School in Kaduwela as a part of the Company’s efforts towards supporting educational institutions in Sri Lanka.

The 1500 students who study at this village school have lacked an area to develop their creative talents. The new hall is spacious and allows for students to pursue dance, music and other forms of art in a clean and spacious environment. The hall was handed over by the Coca-Cola Sri Lanka team to the School’s Principal, teachers, students and community members, in the presence of Battaramulla Zonal Director of Education Ashoka Senani Hewage.

Coca-Cola Beverages Sri Lanka Limited Country Manager Kapila Welmillage said: “Coca-Cola Sri Lanka has been supporting various educational causes and institutions across the country for many years now. We have partnered with 28 schools in Biyagama to collect and recycle PET waste, we reconstructed a school canteen to provide a safe and hygienic area for students to eat and drink, we have worked to revitalise schools in Yabaraluwa, as well as trained English teachers in schools in the Northern Province post the war. All these efforts are in line with Coca-Cola’s global commitment to help make a positive difference to communities and foster growth through education. We hope that the students at Kaduwela benefit from this hall and use it adequately.”

Munidasa Kumarathunga School Principal W.L.R.K. Wijerathne Perera was very happy that Coca-Cola has helped develop his school further and will help his students in developing a well rounded education. “We approached Coca-Cola with an appeal to help us and they were very forthcoming. We appreciate the support that Coca-Cola has offered the students to develop their talents and skills. I give my personal pledge that I will ensure that the students treasure this facility and use it for their development,” said Perera.
