Corporate sponsorship for ‘Virudana Gee Sara’ Phase 5

A sponsorship for the ‘Virudana Gee Sara’ phase 5 was made by Ceylinco Life Insurance Company recently. The cheque for the sponsorship was handed over to the Chairperson of the Seva Vanitha Unit (SVU) of the Ministry of Defence (MoD) Ioma Rajapaksa, at a function held at the ministry.

‘Viru Dana Gee Sara’ is a musical show organised by the SVU of the MoD, to raise funds for the projects initiated for the welfare of war heroes and their families. The ‘Api Wenuwen Api’ housing project is one such project which assists war hero families to build their own houses. In addition, the SVU provides interest free housing loans, medical assistance, handing over of three wheelers to disabled war heroes, distributes wheel chairs and grants scholarships for children of war heroes. The military hospital is also one it’s many beneficiaries.

The fourth phase of the ‘Viru Dana Gee Sara’ was held at the ‘Nelum Pokuna’ Mahinda Rajapaksa Theatre in Colombo, on 14 July 2012. The First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa graced the occasion as the Chief Guest while a host of stars of the local entertainment industry performed at the event.
