DIMO, Toccata donate medical equipment to Tellippalai Trail Cancer Hospital

At a simple event held yesterday at Hilton Colombo, Toccata Musical Group officially handed over medical equipment to Tellippalai Trail Cancer Hospital, Jaffna. Each Toccata Musical Show is also linked to a charitable activity. During the Sri Lankan Tour, Toccata will be donating a large quantity of used medical equipment to Tellippalai Trail Cancer Hospital, collected from hospitals throughout Northern Ireland. DIMO is proud to be the Platinum Sponsor of the Toccata Musical Group and facilitate this great cause. DIMO ventured into this sponsorship mainly to facilitate the contribution that was being made towards the hospital.

Speaking at the event, DIMO Chairman Ranjith Pandithage said, “When David brought this proposal to us, we jumped right into it, because of the great charitable act that Toccata was planning to do – more than the three musical shows. As the platinum sponsor we are delighted to have made this project a reality in Sri Lanka and help a well deserving hospital.” Dedicated doctors and nurses from Northern Ireland collect, donate and ship medical equipment from UK to the countries where Toccata performs, to raise the standard of care. These selected hospitals in Sri Lanka will be the beneficiary of valuable nearly new medical equipment including x’ray and scanning equipment, hospital beds, ventilators, patient bedside monitors etc. Dr. Sunil Paulraj is a Neonatal specialist working at Neonatal Intensive Care at the Royal Hospital in Belfast. Toccata is the brainchild of Dr. Sunil Paulraj. An acclaimed tenor Sunil combines his love for medicine with a passion for music. Sustainable entrepreneurship has always been at the core of DIMO’s corporate strategy. The sustainability philosophy constantly figures in the decision making processes within the company. While delivering value to their stakeholders, DIMO is conscious of their larger responsibilities as a corporate citizen. The Tellippalai Trail Cancer Hospital was declared opened on 19 January by President Mahinda Rajapaksa, amidst a distinguished gathering, marking the beginning of a new era in cancer treatment in the North. The project was organised by Trail in collaboration with the Colours of Courage Trust, a non-profit organisation dedicated to uplifting cancer treatment facilities within the country.
