When a patient is brought in to the emergency unit or accident ward and needs to undergo a battery of tests but also needs support in breathing use of a fixed or large ventilator is impractical.

The Colombo South Teaching Hospital, Kalubowila had an urgent need for a transport ventilator to help patients being moved within the hospital, for young children and for critical emergency cases.

David Pieris Group of Companies was quick to come forward to provide the required funding to make this life saving equipment available where it was most needed.

The equipment was handed over to the hospital by DPMC GM and DP Group Welfare Committee Chairman Jayantha Rathnayake. Rathnayake explained: “We strive to uplift the lives of the community we do business in. It is our firm belief that giving back to society enriches us all.”

To this end the David Pieris Group allocates significant funding to help those who may not have access to funds or support to overcome obstacles and difficulties in life.
