Drought relief from People’s Bank

Unleashing yet another dimension of its corporate social responsibility efforts, People’s Bank stepped forward to assist thousands of affected families living in the villages of Medirigiriya and Welikanda, in the district of Polonnaruwa who are severely inconvenienced by the prevailing drought in some parts of the country. Accordingly, the Bank provided drought relief to over 2,000 Sinhalese, Tamil and Muslim families recently. The distribution of dry rations and bottles of drinking water tanks for the people living in the worst affected areas was conducted under the advice of People’s Bank Chairman Gamini Sedara Senarath with the participation of Deputy Minister of land and land development Siripala Gamalath, Member of Parliament Roshan Ranasinghe, CEO/GM N. Vasantha Kumar and a large number of corporate and executive management members, trade union officials, members of voluntary societies and staff of the bank.
