The EBC Group’s highly-regarded motto, the ‘Spirit of Caring and Giving’, goes way beyond being solely a vision statement, and extends to the group’s on-the-ground Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities as well.

As such, by reaching out to where it matters, upcoming CSR initiatives from “E FM’s Helping Hands”, likewise, strive to be far-reaching and offer more than the required minimum, focusing on making a true and substantial positive impact on society and the environment.

In the coming months, “E FM’s Helping Hands” program plans to carry out a range of CSR initiatives encompassing long-, medium- and short-term projects, in the areas of Education, Community and Livelihood Development, Environment and Disaster Relief, etc.

In keeping with this goal, E FM’s Helping Hands, focused on the Vajira Sri Children’s Development Centre in Pita Kotte, which was established in 1983, and currently houses 30 children who are victims of the 30-year conflict in Sri Lanka’s North. With the objective of providing shelter and hope for these young children who had witnessed the loss of their parents due to the ruthless war, the centre’s mission is to create a better future and help these children with complete impartiality with no discrimination for race or religious beliefs. At present, the centre takes care of 116 children aged from 2 to 18 years of age.

The initiative was completed on16  January with E FM staff visiting the wonderful children at the Vajira Sri Rehabilitation Centre with donations from many E FM listeners and corporate partners. What resulted was a beautiful day filled with smiles, laughter and the kids displaying many talents in the form of song and dance.

Going forward, E FM will continue to take great pride in responding to the needs of all Sri Lankans via a number of targeted CSR events aimed at generating awareness campaigns for important issues and improving the social well-being of every citizen.

Commenting, EBC Radio Chief Operating Officer Chalaka Gajabahu said, “We at E FM would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our loyal listeners and corporate partners, including DSI, Toyota and Haritha Tea, for their generous donations to E FM’s Helping Hands. Thank you so much for your commitment to this important project and for bringing a smile to the lovely children at the Vajira Sri Rehabilitation Centre.”
