Flora sponsors cycle booth at Weras Ganga Development Project Bellanwila

Flora Sri Lanka is proud to have been associated through sponsoring a cycle booth at the Weras Ganga Development Project in Bellanwila, inaugurated by President Mahinda Rajapaksa recently. In keeping with its Sustainable Living Plan that focuses on health, nutrition and hygiene, Unilever Sri Lanka believes strongly in partnering the timely initiative undertaken  by the Government towards encouraging people to prioritise fitness as a part of developing a healthy lifestyle, says Shamara Silva Category Head – Food. In keeping with its commitment towards encouraging a healthy and an active lifestyle, Flora is committed towards encouraging Sri Lankans to stay healthy by engaging in regular physical activity, she adds. At the Weras Ganga Development Project Bellanwila Section Walking Track, Flora has sponsored the cycle booth, which includes 25 bicycles. This is the second initiative of its kind by Flora having also sponsored the cycle booth at the walking track at the Independence Square. Flora firmly believes that an active lifestyle and a healthy diet are vital aspects of a healthy lifestyle thereby Flora also sponsored a weighing scale which can be used by the health conscious patrons of the Bellanwila area says Bianca de Silva – Brand Manager – Flora. She adds that children and adults alike can make use of the cycling facility for recreational and exercise purposes. During the opening week from 9 to 16 September, Flora will offer the free BMI health check at the Weras Ganga Development Project Bellanwila Section Walking Track, giving people the opportunity to have their BMI checked. The importance of maintaining a healthy BMI, engaging in regular exercise and choosing a healthy diet are considered the pillars of developing a healthy lifestyle. This is more relevant in today’s stress filled and sedentary lifestyles, combined with food habits such as skipping meals or processed foods, says Dilani Hettiarachchi, Nutrition and Health Manager at Unilever Sri Lanka. Flora Sri Lanka will continue to support initiatives that encourage and empower people towards adapting a healthy lifestyle, says Shamara Silva in conclusion.
