Fonterra Brands Lanka recently provided milk to the students of Carlton Pre-school in Maligawatte under the patronage of First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa.

The Carlton Pre-school Maligawatte, is one of eight pre-schools that educate over 1,600 students, established by the First Lady across the country. The first ever pre-school was established 30 years ago, with an objective of providing free education to children of low-income families.

In an effort to uplift the nutrition level of the nation, Fonterra Brands Lanka strives to inculcate the habit of drinking milk among the younger generation, and thus provides free ANCHOR milk to thousands of children through similar school based programmes.

Milk is one of the most nutritious food sources for growing children, and with this project ANCHOR highlighted the importance of including milk in daily diets for the holistic, physical and mental development of children. Milk and milk products are one of the four main food groups and are considered to be one of nature’s most perfect sources of nutrition, as they provide substantial amounts of vitamins and minerals.

Fonterra’s flagship brand ANCHOR has played an active role in child development by providing gold standard milk nutrition, trusted by mothers for over 30 years. ANCHOR milk is subject to over 50 tests throughout the supply chain, from the time it is extracted from the cow, to the time it is delivered to the consumer.

“The benefits of ANCHOR products, which provide the best of dairy nutrition, are delivered to the consumer through continuous research and development, world-class manufacturing processes and consistent testing in line with international standards,” said Fonterra Brands Lanka Managing Director Achyut Kasireddy.
