The Unity Mission Trust, which has been working with children in the North and Wanni since May 2009, will hold the fourth Ekamuthu Oray Makkal Unity Camp in Tharanikkulam from 29 June to 2 July, for 500 deserving school children from Central Wanni and all areas of South Central.

The work of the Unity Mission Trust is aimed at healing, unity and reconciliation has evolved over a period of time and we have now developed our core specialisation which is the conduct of a series of Unity Camps, on an interfaith platform to foster and facilitate integration between children of the North and South, who are aged between 16 to 20 years.

The series of Camps conducted by the Ekamuthu Oray Makkal Unity Trust focuses mainly on children of the North and Wanni and delivers a program to develop leadership capabilities, personal capacity enhancement and self-confidence development. These children have not experienced or been exposed to this type of capacity building program which at the end also fosters integration, healing, unity and reconciliation as well.

The theme of the fourth camp is ‘Leadership Development, Capacity Building and Personality Enhancement’ and it aims to foster unity, reconciliation and healing and strengthening of the minds of children, that all children are equal sons and daughters of our beloved Mother Lanka – and that there is hope for a better future for all, through continued establishment and the building of bonds between children of the North and South of Sri Lanka.

The Unity Mission Trust is inviting those interested to participate in the Camp as volunteers or be a sponsor. The cost of sponsoring one student is Rs. 4,500 and interested persons can sponsor a child or group of 25 at Rs. 112,500.
