Glitz one of the premium retail fashion stores in Colombo recently celebrated World Children’s Day at the Ceylon School for the Deaf and Blind in Rathmalana.  The event which was organised as part of the company’s CSR initiative saw over 185 differently-abled children enjoy the fun-filled day. The children got the opportunity to have close encounters with many animals including an elephant and a baby python brought to the school premises. Other fun filled activities included water slides, group games and a DJ kept the event lively with music throughout the whole event. Speaking about the event, Glitz Manager Operations A.M.M. Shafeek said: “Children are the future of any nation. A simple smile from a kid most often washes away the daily troubles. These kids at the Deaf and Blind school truly deserve the attention and care. Rabbits, hamsters and pigeons were gifted as pets to the school along with special gifts were given to both students and teachers. In addition, we organised various activities such as face painting, mascots across all the Glitz outlets as a part of the enjoyment. Free gifts were given away to all the children who walked in to the Glitz outlets. Our partner Chathak helped us though the event.” Chathak which is sold exclusively at Glitz, hands in a percentage of its t-shirt sales on a monthly basis for the welfare of children. Via this partnership with Chathak, Glitz is also involved in making donations to the SOS Children’s Village, orphanages and other less privileged children.
