Over 1000 school children in Moratuwa were all smiles as they received gift packs from Horlicks of GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare (GSK) in celebration of World Children’s Day on 1 October. Around 1500 400g packs of Horlicks were donated to students from the De Soysa Navodha Maha Vidyalaya, a school in Moratuwa, from Grade 3 upwards. The packs were donated as part of GSK’s commitment to serving the local community surrounding its factory premises in Moratuwa. De Soysa Navodha Maha Vidyalaya Principal W. W. Jayanath Mendis said that most of the school children hailed from the fishing community, adding that the school lacked physical resources. “We are happy to provide much-needed nutrition to the deserving children of De Soysa Navodha Maha Vidyalaya,” said GSK Sri Lanka Category Manager Lauren Chang, adding, “All too often, children miss out on essential vitamins and minerals in their diet. It is fitting that Horlicks celebrates World Children’s Day by ensuring school children receive the nutrients they need, in line with our aim to fill the nutrient gaps in a growing child’s daily intake.” Horlicks has also conducted several other community outreach programs to celebrate World Children’s Day. Health food drink Horlicks was recently re-launched in Sri Lanka for growing children between 6 and 16 years of age. The new, improved Horlicks has been tailor-made for children, packed with 23 nutrients to meet a growing child’s needs, containing iron, vitamin A, iodine, zinc, folic acid, manganese, selenium and copper. This helps children achieve optimum growth while maintaining healthy bones, muscles and blood, ensuring normal immune function and maximising energy. Horlicks is the flagship brand of health food drinks of GlaxoSmithKline, the world’s leading research-based pharmaceutical and healthcare company committed to improving the quality of human life by enabling people to do more, feel better and live longer.
