IBM donates computers to Defence Services College

IBM World Trade Corporation made a donation of two computers to the Defence Services College under the Kid-Smart Early Learning project for the betterment of the children of war heroes.

Secretary Defence and Urban Development Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa graced the event as the chief guest.

The institute also provided software applications along with the computers enabling effective learning for students in year 2,3 and 4 in core subjects: Math, Science and English.

Subsequent to the main event Secretary Defence and the invited guests visited the school premises.

The donation was made to commemorate IBM’s 50th anniversary in Sri Lanka.  The Army Chief of Staff Maj Gen. Daya Rathnayaka, Maj. Gen Kamal Gunarathna, Mr. Shanker Annaswamy Regional General Manager, IBM India/South Asia, MR. Chrishan Fernando, Country General Manager,IBM Sri Lanka, Mr. Kiran Rao, Market Management Leader, GB & GE IBM India/South Asia, Ms. Manori Unambuwe Marketing Leader, IBM Sri Lanka were also present at the event.
