Janashakthi insures 7,100 scouts at Asia Pacific Region Scout Jamboree

Janashakthi Insurance PLC provided comprehensive insurance coverage to 7,100 scouts including foreign scouts from 22 countries who participated at the 29th Asia Pacific Region (APR) Scout Jamboree and Sri Lanka Centenary Jamboree held in the historic city of Dambulla recently.



The event, held in conjunction with the celebration of 100 years of scouting in Sri Lanka was the first ever international jamboree of this magnitude and foreign participation, to be conducted in Sri Lanka. Among the main aims of the weeklong event was to provide opportunities to the youth between the ages of 12-17 years.

Jointly organised by the Sri Lanka Scouts Association and the Asia Pacific Region of the World Organisation of the Scout Movement based in the Philippines, the event brought together over 6,500 scouts from different parts of the island and 600 from overseas to whom Janashakthi provided comprehensive protection from any type of accidents that may occur during the event period, extending coverage to hospitalisation.  

The international event was declared open by Chief Scout of Sri Lanka, President Mahinda Rajapaksa, with Philippine Vice President and Chairman of Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Association Jejomar Binay being the Chief Guest.

The SLSA carries out extensive welfare related programs for the youth to build character and discipline and trains them in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and develops personal fitness.
