Land Rover is partnering a Silent Auction Fundraiser for The Ceylon School for the Deaf & Blind, which will take place at the Saskia Fernando Gallery at 41 Horton Place on 10 October. The Ceylon School for the Deaf & Blind, which is over 100 years old, has under its purview three residential schools: the School for the Blind, the School for the Deaf at Ratmalana and Nuffield School for the Deaf & Blind at Kaithady Jaffna. The total student population in the three schools combined is approximately 570. A minimum bid is set and paper is located near the item, which allows for people to write down their names and bids. This gives people a chance, during the event, to tour the different items available for auction and decide upon which items they would like to bid. Often, one sheet of paper shows all previous bids so that people participating in the silent auction know that they need to bid higher in order to get the item. They also have the opportunity to revisit bidding sheets before the auction is closed if they really want something being offered at the silent auction. The Range Rover Evoque provided plenty of entertainment for the children of the Ceylon School for the Deaf & Blind   “Land Rover is very pleased to support such a great charity and will continue to support the Ceylon School for the Deaf & the Blind in the future. We are proud to be a part of this effort to better children’s lives as supporting our community is one of our main objectives,” said Sheran Fernando, Managing Director, SML Frontier Automotive. The Silent Auction Exhibition will be presented at Saskia Fernando Gallery on 8 October while the event and fundraiser will take place on Friday 10 October. It is during this event that bidders will be welcome to begin writing down their bids. At 9 p.m. the paintings will be sold to the highest bidder and 100% of the proceeds will go towards the School for the Blind, the School for the Deaf at Ratmalana and Nuffield School for the Deaf & Blind at Kaithady Jaffna.
