More assistance for ‘Abhimansala ll’ Project

A stock of paint worth Rs. 1 million intended for the use of the construction of ‘Abhimansala ll’ was handed over to the Defence and Urban Development Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa by Akzo Nobel Paints Lanka Ltd. this week at the Ministry premises.

‘Abhimansala’ is a wellness resort exclusively designed to house dependent War Heroes for the rest of their life. The first state-of-the-art, ‘Abimansala,’ built on the banks of the ancient Nuwara Wewa in Anuradhapura, was declared open by President Mahinda Rajapaksa in July 2011.

The ‘Abimansala ll’ project is estimated to cost around Rs. 240 million. It is being constructed in a serene natural environment bordering the Haliela Wewa in Kamburupitiya.

This new welfare resort will comprise of seven villas, five cottages, a ward complex for 20 inmates, swimming pool, gymnasium, physiotherapy unit, medical wing, medical laboratory, library, indoor stadium, entertainment hall, auditorium, herbal treatment (ayurveda) centre and many other facilities and will provide round the clock care for disabled war heroes.

Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, Major General S. Udumalage, Managing Director of Akzo Nobel Paints Lanka Pvt. Ltd. Gereld De Seram and General Manager (Sales) Nalin Karunarathna were present at the occasion.
