Hellen Keller said: “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” The staff members of Mount Lavinia Hotel proved just that when they made a beautiful Vesak lantern. This year instead of the Vesak lantern competition, all staff members got together to make one gigantic and beautiful lantern. MLH Buddhist Society President Nissanka Mapa said: “Next year we’re hoping to have an even bigger lantern with discarded material in order to eliminate waste and protect our environment, going the full round with the 3Rs – Reduce, Re-use and Recycle.” The lighting of the lamp was done on 14 May (Vesak Full Moon Poya Day) by Mr. and Mrs. Wickramasinghe, a lovely couple who has made MLH their second home, and Dr. Publis Silva.
