OZO hotels empower communities with ‘Dream Come True’

Committed to making a positive contribution to Sri Lankan communities, OZO hotels recently embarked on its ‘Dream Come True’ campaign by setting up a Wish Tree for fundraising. This initiative aims to provide special meals and treats to less privileged children, in collaboration with the hotel’s internal and external stakeholders.

The children created and produced Christmas cards showing their dream gifts and sold them at the hotel lobby. All the proceeds were used to make the children’s wishes come true. OZO Colombo sponsored a lunch buffet for all present, and the team spent a day with the kids at Gangodawila Girls’ Home. It ended up being a memorable day for 71 kids, who benefited from the Dream Come True project. On the other hand OZO Kandy also spent a fruitful day full of activities, including the distribution of dream gifts to kids at Wattegama Children’s Home for 42  children in need, as a result of the project.

“When it comes to corporate social responsibility, our focus is high on employee engagement, stakeholder participation, innovation and collaboration, and projects driven in a strategic level with the involvement of ONYX Hospitality Group,” said OZO hotels in Sri Lanka Area General Manager Alexandre Glauser. “We are also hoping to direct our attention on imminent and important social issues. We shall endeavour to contribute, support and help to provide for those who most need a great place to live, learn and grow.”

First year into its operation following a successful six months, OZO Kandy has participated in several CSR projects within a short period. Fondly called by locals as ‘the coolest hangout spot in Kandy’, OZO Kandy strongly believes in giving back to the community.

OZO Kandy Hotel Manager Krishanta Damunupola gave a special comment on his enthusiastic team, involved in spearheading the project. He said, “We have a dynamic team that will actively look for opportunities, and evaluate and organise fundraising activities, following the international standards as recommended by ONYX Hospitality Group. It is a lot of hard work as team volunteers sacrifice by working on holidays or working a few extra hours to deliver due results. We are proud to be part of the Dream Come True project this year, which supports a great deal to less privileged kids around the globe through events organised by Amari, Shama and OZO properties.”

The Dream Come True community initiative was designed by ONYX Hospitality Group and incepted in 2010 in Thailand to support needy communities. Today, the initiative is adopted by all the properties managed by ONYX around the world. Dream Come True has uplifted the lives of thousands of children through numerous projects.
