The OZO hotels in Colombo and Kandy have pledged their support for Earth Day by encouraging water sustainability with their ‘OZO for H2O’ project in partnership with Network of Women Water Professionals (NetWwater). NetWwater is an organisation of women who volunteer to promote and monitor the Dublin Statement on Water and Sustainable Development, also known as the Dublin Principles.

‘OZO for H2O’ is an ongoing project that promotes the conservation of natural water resources and raises awareness of water scarcity across both OZO properties in Sri Lanka. The project also works with NetWwater in Balana Kanishta Vidyalaya, which is situated in the Denuwara Education Zone in Kandy to promote rainwater harvesting for better sanitation and to share knowledge of natural water resource conservation.

The most recent development of the ‘OZO for H2O’ project was the installation of a water tank within the school premises in order to promote the well-being of the children in the community who are affected by the lack of clean water. Teams from both Colombo and Kandy came together with NetWwater and the Balana community to highlight the importance of water conservation and community sustainability.

The partnership with NetWwater, which originated in September 2016, is an ongoing initiative that is in line with OZO’s CSR strategy: ‘OZO for H2O’. Led by the corporate social responsibility commitment of the ONYX Hospitality Group to a better and greener world, the partnership aims to promote the conservation of natural water resources and to raise awareness of water scarcity in the climatic regions of Sri Lanka.
