Panadol for Children, marketed by SmithKline Beecham (GSK), conducted a specially designed performance art based activity program for the children at Lady Ridgeway Hospital, (Colombo) to celebrate World Children’s Day on 1 October.

First of its kind in Sri Lanka, the program, ‘Suwathi Sinaha’, succeeded in bringing much needed smiles to the children in Ward 1, 2 and 3 of the Lady Ridgeway Hospital.

Research has found that music has therapeutic values and can help to promote, maintain and restore psychological, physical, emotional and spiritual health. Music on this day broke barriers and connected patients, families and medical caregivers and provided all with an outlet for expression of feelings, relaxation and communication.

Speaking on this significant initiative, SmithKline Beecham Ltd. Director Marketing Ravi de Coonghe said, “Panadol for children has been the chosen and trusted remedy for treating children’s pain and fever for generations. We were delighted to present ‘Suwathi Sinaha’ for the first time. This is a unique program where performance art was effectively used to comfort ailing children and help in their speedy recovery.

“This program aims to help the caregivers and medical staff to keep the children happy and therefore more receptive to medicine. We were overwhelmed to see children engage actively with our teams of professionals. Their heart-warming smiles remain our greatest inspiration and reward. We were truly humbled to see that our effort has touched lives and enabled all to do more, feel better and live longer.”
