Ranaviru Real Star: Mission 2 SMS revenue donated for Armed Forces welfare

Sri Lanka’s largest telephony services provider Dialog Axiata PLC has donated revenue generated from SMS (Short Messaging Service) based voting on the grand finale of Ranaviru Real Star: Mission 2 to the Api Wenuwen Api Fund, administered by the Ministry of Defence and Urban Development.

The Api Wenuwen Api Fund, a cooperation between the Ministry of Defence and Urban development, and the Central Bank of Sri Lanka has set a target to build 50,000 housing units for the armed forces over a period of five years. The first housing scheme comprising 1620 housing units being built in Ipolagama in the Anuradhapura District is to expected to be completed in another six months, while phase two is expected to commence in Horowpathana, Anuradhapura District.  

Each housing project also includes schools, shopping complexes, gymnasiums, and other facilities.

Ranaviru Real Star was developed on a concept given by Secretary, Ministry of Defence and Urban Development Gotabaya Rajapaksa and is organised by the Ministry of Defence in partnership with event partner Dialog Axiata PLC, Sri Lanka’s largest telecommunication service provider with over 7.5 million subscribers.

Ranaviru Real Star is one of the most watched Reality Shows in Sri Lanka which highlights the hidden talents of our armed forces. The grand finale of Ranaviru Real Star: Mission 2 telecast live on Sri Lanka Rupavahini on July 06 from the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium received the highest number of SMS votes ever recorded on a live reality show final.

The panel of judges for the grand finale of Ranaviru Real Star: Mission 2 comprised of eminent personalities involved in the music and entertainment industry in Sri Lanka who had a direct say in 60 percent of the outcome, while the balance outcome was decided by the public via SMS. Ayomi Perera of the Sri Lanka Army emerged as the winner of Ranaviru Real Star: Mission 2 grand finale.  

Dialog Axiata is Sri Lanka’s largest mobile service provider with the greatest number of subscribers and a growing base of over 2,000 GSM and 1,200 3G base stations.
