Royal Philex 2014: South Asia’s oldest consecutive philatelic exhibition

The Philatelic Club of Royal College Colombo had organised ‘Royal Philex 2014’, Philatelic Exhibition for the 70th consecutive year and oldest consecutive philatelic exhibition in South Asia. It was held at the National Art Gallery. Many historically important and valuable collections of stamps, coins, first day covers, postal journals, etc were displayed throughout the exhibition; which makes this exhibition very timely and also very effective also since the Education Ministry of Sri Lanka is on a mission to establish Philatelic Clubs in all schools of Sri Lanka. Rohan Jayaweera, the Country Consultant of Sri Lanka and Maldives for Google Asia Pacific and Head Prefect of Royal College for the years 1997/98 was chief guest and declared open the exhibition along with Principal of the College Upali Gunesekera. The teacher in charge of the club W.A.H.N. Jayaweera, members of the club, students and parents were present at this exhibition.
